Did you know that Avocado Oil has less than 1/3 of the fat and calories of other cooking oils? One teaspoon of Avocado Oil has merely 45 calories and contains 4.5 grams of fat. What got me hooked, though, are the health benefits! We are all well aware, at this point, that I am kind of a health immunity boosting "whore" of sorts. If it can improve my health... I'm eating it! If it takes gross, I'm seasoning it.

Most of us are aware that avocado's have long been praised for their nutritional benefits. I try to eat at least 1/4 of one a day. So, it comes as no surprise to find out that Avocado Oil is packed with the same nutritional kung-fu punch. I was particularly impressed with it's clean, light, taste. More and more people are getting on the avocado oil train now-a-days. You can find it everywhere; even your potato chips are starting throw themselves into the "cool" pool.

See, Avocado Oil originally began as an extract for cosmetic use, largely due to it's regenerative and moisturizing properties as well as quick absorption, and has now quickly made its way into kitchens across the world. Yes ladies, you can use it on your face, too!

It has an usually high smoke point, at 480 F (when unrefined), which makes it great for healthier frying and/or cooking.

Plus, avocado oil can also boost absorption of carotenoids when consumed with carotene rich foods, according to a study published in the March 2005 issue of "Journal of Nutrition". In this study, avocado oil enhanced the absorption of alpha-carotene, beta-carotene and lutein from eating a salad by as much as 15 times compared to that of eating a salad without avocado oil. Furthermore, avocado's are also said to be a good source of vitamin E, Vitamin A, B-Complex, Iron, potassium, magnesium, and fiber. P.S. One avocado can have as much potassium as TWO banana! So, you can put down that sugar packed banana that you are eating everyyy day under the guise of extra potassium and join the paleo diet train; and eat an avocado instead.

If that doesn't already have you opening another internet tab and Prime Amazon shipping yourself a bottle of Avocado Oil, on same day delivery, how about this---the consumption of avocados have ALSO been associated with better cardiovascular health and the aiding of cancer prevention.

So.... Let's recap. We have a super food like nutritional value, improved nutrient absorption, low fat, high fiber, high smoke point AND it tastes good? This one is a no brainer. Avocado oil chips for everyone! Well at least for today; cause Coconut Oil chips have been the jam to my gluten free toast, for a while now! But, more on that one later.
